Job Description Summary
These school-based Human Resources roles support staff compensation for the Perelman School of Medicine and have a dotted line to core Human Resources Compensation. The roles will research and analyze data to provide clients with salary offer/adjustment recommendations based on market data and internal equity that support recruitment and retention. Evaluate job descriptions to determine/recommend appropriate classification and job profile. Provide advice/guidance to clients regarding salary management and compliance issues. Interpret compensation policies; monitor pay practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Complete salary surveys. Support annual merit increase program and special projects.
Job Description
We are focused on growing and developing our fabulous compensation team members in addition to offering the opportunity to pursue CCP certification.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Analyze and provide salary offer/adjustment recommendations to clients, Management and Business Administrators that support recruitment and retention and that are based on market data and internal equity.
  • Evaluate and analyze job descriptions to determine the appropriate classification and job profile based on University's compensation system and FLSA.
  • Provides advice/guidance to clients, Management and Business Administrators regarding individual, department or school-wide salary management and compliance issues such as FLSA, pay equity and legally defensible pay practices.
  • Interpret compensation policies; monitor pay practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policies.
  • Primary contact for daily compensation-related inquiries via email and telephone.
  • Primary reviewer and approver for compensation events in the Workday inbox.
  • Primary responder to compensation related tickets from Solution Center.
  • Review service provider questionnaire and complete service provider evaluation worksheet in support of independent service provider requests.
  • Complete salary surveys and ensure submission of accurate data on a timely basis.
  • Support the annual merit increase program.
  • Assist with special projects including but not limited to job architecture, pay range structure, compensation software, FLSA updates, and compensation programs.
  • Other additional duties as assigned.
  • Senior Compensation Specialist duties include all of the above in addition to the following:
  • Conduct special projects to support new initiatives and compensation administration including but not limited to market studies, pay analyses.
  • Collaborate with Staff and Labor Relations as needed.
  • Support core Compensation's report preparation to senior leadership as needed.
Qualifications
  • Compensation Specialist - Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 to 5 years of compensation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Senior Compensation Specialist - Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 to 7 years of compensation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytic skills. Demonstrated customer service and negotiation skills. Familiarity of compensation laws and regulations. Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Desire to learn and develop as a compensation professional. Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a flexible, often ambiguous environment.
  • Experience with Workday is a plus.
  • CCP, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Compensation Specialist Targeted Pay Range:
$68,000 - $80,000
Senior Compensation Specialist Targeted Pay Range:
$88,000 -$100,000
Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
