Company Secretary Support
London
As a Barclays Company Secretary Support, you will get an exciting opportunity to assist BBUK Company Secretary and Deputy Company Secretary in their duties in relation to the BBUK Board and Board Committees. In your role, you will liaise with Executive Committee members’ offices and Directors to plan and execute meetings and ensure the effective operation of Board and Board Committees in accordance with law and regulation, including corporate governance matters and external reporting.

What will you be doing?
- Assisting the BBUK Company Secretary and Deputy Company Secretary in providing company secretarial and corporate governance to BBUK actively
- Helping other members of the team, as and when required, and work on ad-hoc pro-jects relating to department-wide deliverables
- Ensuring the effective operation of the BBUK Board and Board Committees in accordance with law and regulation
- Ensuring the efficient administration of BBUK Board and Board Committee meetings actively
- Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining BBUK Board and Board Committee corporate governance documentation
- Assisting the BBUK Deputy Company Secretary in coordinating decisions to regulatory and other requests, ensuring that the correct procedures are followed
- Assisting the BBUK Deputy Company Secretary in relation to full-year and half-year results processes
- Demonstrated company secretarial, legal, governance and/or control and risk experience, ideally gained within a UK company of substantial size and complexity or a reputable legal firm
- Excellent IT skills and proficient user of Diligent Boardbooks (or similar), Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience in prioritising competing demands, and ability to confidently operate under pressure in a fast-moving environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Qualified Chartered Governance Professional or Chartered Secretary (or close to completing/desire to complete the Programme) or a UK-qualified lawyer
- Knowledge of corporate governance principles and practices
- Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, in particular the UK Companies Act 1985 and 2006 (and related legislation)
- Utmost discretion when handling confidential material
