Job description
Hello, we are looking for friendly, approachable, highly motivated craftspeople &/or makers to design and make bespoke pieces for our event installations. There will also be opportunities to be a part of the event crew and decor installers.
Those with a theatrical, design, and scenery background are preferable, as well as exhibition installers and carpenters.
In addition to carpentry and scenic painting, it would be advantageous but not necessary to have experience working with resin, fibreglass and foam,
But we are willing to speak to anyone who feels they are suitable for the role.
Working out from our offices and workshops on Sealand Road Chester, but with events and installations across the UK.
We have weekly and monthly contracts and also on an ad hoc casual basis depending on works best for the individual.
We are initially looking for people to work for the autumn and winter seasons to mid-January (dates tbc), with the potential of ongoing work into 2024.
In addition to the role of designing, creating and decorating scenic pieces and props to add to our events, there will also be the opportunity to assist our friendly events and decor team, with the installation of the decorations and scenery.
Our company specialises in themed events, from day installations to weekly and even monthly. This includes but is not limited to table & furniture decoration, draping rooms and venues, chair covering and centrepieces as well as Installing and designing seasonal decorations. We also have an in-house team of lighting and sound technicians who come on various installs to add scenic sounds and lighting to our events.
This is a physically demanding role, with working at height a regular requirement.
So we do require a degree of physical fitness.
There can be a lot of work during unsociable hours, and by no means is our business 9 to 5.
Working as part (and getting on with) of a wider team is a huge advantage, as well as someone with the ability to use their own initiative and take on some decision-making when working independently.
Our workshop is based in a rural area, so being able to drive is a requirement; if you are required to use your vehicle for installs/ deliveries/ pickup, your petrol costs will be covered.
Pay is dependent on contract type and experience. We welcome applications from those on a self-employed basis.
We have events all year round and will look to take people on our books for 2024.
