Do you have experience in leadership and management in the charity sector, including managing remote or regionally based teams? Are you skilled in developing project plans and turning these into cohesive operational plans? Are you commercially focused and experienced in managing teams to achieve their KPIs?

Dogs Trust are recruiting for a new Head of Community, Education and Engagement (CEE) to be responsible for the development and delivery of strategic initiatives for the CEE department.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. We have an exciting new strategy with ambition to transform the way we work to ensure every dog lives life to the full. We want to be there to help even more dogs and their owners, but at the heart of what we do is our commitment to never put a healthy dog to sleep and together we never have to let any dog down.

CEE is a growing department made up of UK wide, regionally focussed teams with a mixture of professional and expert staff in training and behaviour, teaching, education, local campaigning and running human behaviour change initiatives

The Head of CEE will be accountable for the leadership, delivery and impact for the regional community teams, including Education, Dog School and Community Engagement activities. You will work across Operations and Dogs Trust to support the delivery of organisational strategic goals and initiatives, helping to drive a positive culture of continuous improvement and success, leading a team of technical and professional managers to deliver the strategic goals for the team. This includes leading on the development and testing of different approaches for community-based activities, overseeing the identification of suitable communities and stakeholders for interventions, and leading the development of a diverse team of professional staff, ensuring a positive, proactive and reflective culture.

To be successful in this role you will be a self-motivated and experienced people manager who leads by example, giving constructive feedback to deliver strong performance, and devises and drives the achievement of objectives. You will be a naturally collaborative worker and an exceptional communicator who drives successful project outcomes, as well as being experienced in gathering and analysing complex data, producing clear management information based on it and exercising good judgment to take decisions and make appropriate recommendations for change.

The role will be home-based but there will be a requirement to travel on a regular basis.

To apply for this position please click the APPLY NOW button. Our application process requires you complete an application form and a covering letter explaining your interest and suitability for the role.

At Dogs Trust we value diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, abilities and cultures and believe that a diverse workforce will help us to achieve our mission. Should you need any adjustments to the recruitment process, either at application or interview stage, please contact us on [email protected].
