Job description

The College is seeking to recruit a motivated and effective Admissions Administrator to join the Academic Office team. This is a busy and highly responsible role within a friendly and committed team that deals with the administration of all aspects of the student career in the College. The Admissions Administrator will take the lead in the everyday organization and co-ordination of undergraduate admissions, in liaison with the Tutor for Admissions; they will also organise the College’s annual open days and, on occasion, support the work of the College’s access team.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and ideally will have prior experience of working within Higher Education administration. They will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work methodically in a very busy and demanding environment. Problem-solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail, discretion and confidentiality as well as a flexible approach to work are essential. Experience of, or familiarity with, admissions and access work in Higher Education would be highly desirable.

Salary: £31,502 to £37,386 per annum, discretionary to £40,745 pa (Grade 6 of the University Salary Scale), depending on skills and experience.

This is a varied and challenging role, and the post holder needs to be able to handle many different duties simultaneously, making sure routine requirements are dealt with accurately and efficiently, whilst also keeping an eye on the broader picture and possibilities for improvement. The post holder should have previous experience in a similar role or administrative environment, good interpersonal skills, be organised and have excellent communication skills.

The working hours are: 37.5 hours a week, normally Monday to Friday, as well as some occasional evening and weekend work. Some homeworking may be considered in agreement with your line manager.
