Liverpool Wheelchair Service is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Band 2 Warehouse Assistant to join our innovative and dynamic team.
The successful candidate will play an important role in the service dealing with movement of wheelchairs and equipment within the warehouse. The candidate will support clinicians to access the wheelchairs and equipment needed for provision in our wheelchair clinics and visits.
Warehouse Assistants play an important role in the day to day work of Liverpool Wheelchair Service dealing with the movement of wheelchairs and equipment within the warehouse.
This role includes:
- Monitoring of stock levels
- Updating stock locations and use of stock management system/ scanners.
- Assisting the team in provision of stock to support provision of wheelchairs to patients, usually on the day of their assessment.
- Supporting the team to load wheelchairs and equipment onto service fleet of vans for delivery.
- Charging of powerchairs
- Pre delivery inspection of stock and special orders.
- Management of equipment requiring decontamination

- Assist in cleaning and refurbishment of wheelchairs and accessories.
- Identify damaged equipment for repair/ inspection by engineer team.
- Move equipment around within the warehouse from the cleaning area to the storage areas etc
- Assist in loading and unloading of deliveries and collections
- Assist in getting wheelchairs and equipment ready for provision by wheelchair therapists and engineers.
- Assist Liverpool Wheelchair Service in the delivery and collection of equipment in the community, especially when there are large items requiring 2 person delivery
- Comply with health and safety requirements when handling equipment especially dirty equipment awaiting cleaning
- Communicate effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Report any incidents or concerns to warehouse supervisor or service leads.
- Stores – undertake general warehouse and storekeeping duties
- Advise the co-ordinator of minimum stock levels
- Cleaning of equipment - Undertake cleaning of equipment as identified in infection control and local policies
- To take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others in the working environment and comply with instructions on safe moving and handling practices
- To attend health and safety and equipment awareness training to maintain up to date skills and knowledge
- Report any adverse incidents using events reporting procedure
- To provide cover as necessary and undertake duties of warehouse supervisor when required.
