Communications Coordinator
Join our team in 2023! KIDS MATTER is looking for a Communications Coordinator who is excited to execute communications activities, create deliverables, manage website content and assist with special project development for a small nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate is flexible, patient, enjoys learning and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Occasional administrative support to other team members will be a secondary responsibility of this role, including helping with the acceptance, distribution and acknowledgement of in-kind donations. Spanish speaking applicants are highly encouraged to apply. The position reports to Executive Director.
Responsibilities include:
- Create and track communications projects from conception through execution.
- Integrate diverse information, paying close attention to detail, while following best practices, procedures, and processes.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of donor and volunteer acknowledgment letters and appreciation campaigns.
- Conceptualize and create deliverables as needed using Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Canva and template documents while paying close attention to brand guidelines (Deliverables may include program flyers, resource guides, annual report, brochures, posters, PowerPoint visuals etc.).
- Manage content creation, copy writing, scheduling, planning and execution of bi-monthly newsletters through Constant Contact.
- Manage weekly social media content planning, calendar development and scheduling across social channels through Hootsuite .
- Assist with basic updates to the organization website as needed through website management system, WordPress and Elementor plugin.
- Partner with contracted web developer to measure and report on website performance and implement improvements, monitor website SEO.
- Attend programs and special events to provide photo and video coverage that elevates communication, outreach and development campaigns.
- Provide a broad range of hands-on tactical assistance to other team members and on a wide variety of projects, especially project development and event support.
Qualifications:
- Ability to write with emotion and produce powerful stories in a variety of forms for diverse audiences; excellent writing and editing skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish/English)
- College degree and/or 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Basic proficiency in WordPress, SEO, and social media management tools
- Excellent organization and file management skills
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Creative Cloud tools
- Experience with video and audio post-production software is a plus
- Industry experience in advocacy, volunteerism, child welfare, law or a therapeutic setting is a plus
- Belief in the mission of KIDS MATTER, to help abused and neglected children heal and thrive, to bring volunteer energy and community support to foster and kinship children, and to apply lessons learned from helping children heal to preventing further child abuse
This position is a full-time position, salary commensurate with skills and experience. Kids Matter Inc. offers PTO in addition to health insurance and other benefits for full-time staff.
