Salary

Up to $43,000/annualized. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours per Week

Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

Function:
  • To provide professional skills in communications, journalism, and marketing activities.

Scope:
  • Responsible for the organization and execution of a broad range of communications support to departmental programs and activities, including writing and editing education/promotion materials.

Duties
  • Provide oversight, direction and coordination for communications and marketing function of assigned area.
  • Assist with design and updates for department websites, social media platforms, and promotional materials.
  • Write, edit, format and assemble documents and publications for the ConTex office, ensuring that they are in compliance with University standards and requirements. This includes all brochures, articles, newsletters and Web materials.
  • Working closely with Director of Programs and Academic Program Coordinator, research and prepare summaries of current academic programs, research initiatives and accomplishments for inclusion in periodic electronic and printed publications.
  • Work with University Publications to create a uniform image and brand for the ConTex program.
  • Ensure that ConTex has a presence at public and on-campus events.
  • Working closely with Executive Director, Director of Programs, and Academic Program Coordinator, design and write a yearly electronic and hard-copy magazine showcasing ConTex accomplishments.
  • Collect, compile and edit data from program and student feedback to assess effectiveness.
  • Develop strategies for promoting ConTex programs, services and opportunities for student and faculty involvement.
  • Create and update contact lists of target audiences and other spreadsheets relevant to the implementation of programs.
  • Coordinate and assist with scheduling of internal and external meetings. Handle necessary logistics.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing, or related field.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • English oral and written proficiency.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and creatively solve complex problems in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proficiency with publishing technologies, such as Adobe Creative Suite... (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat), Web based website builders (Squarespace), Constant Contact, Social Media, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish oral and written proficiency preferred.
  • Experience in web publishing and/or design.
  • Experience with graphics design.
  • Qualtrics



Working Conditions
  • This position may have a flexible hybrid modality based on specific circumstances.
  • Usual office environment.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Some travel may be required to off-campus activities.

This position will be primarily located:

Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.

Hybrid-Occasionally: Primarily works remotely, but may work on campus on an infrequent basis (approximately four days or less per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
