Job description
UK Communications forms an integral part of the Handelsbanken UK structure. The department is responsible for all internal, external, brand and public affairs communications activity within the UK, supporting UK office departments, and branches with a range of services.
The UK Internal Communications Project Officer is responsible for developing and implementing communication plans that drive employee engagement with bank-wide projects. They will be the first point of contact for UK functions needing comms support on internal projects. They need to be able to think strategically about the comms requirements and create and execute comms plans that deliver key messages and meet the agreed objectives successfully.
Main ResponsibilitiesUsing their own skills, knowledge and initiative, they will:
- Work with UK functions and the internal communications manager to plan and deliver specific internal communication projects
- Coordinate and support project managers in the generation of content and identification of specific communication needs
- Identify channels for communicating key messages, and collaborate with UK Communications colleagues to ensure delivery and consistency of messaging with our brand, across a range of channels, including social media and other platforms
- First point of contact for functions regarding project communication plans, joining project teams to bring experience of organisation-wide communications – providing expert skills, recommendations and advice on communications, the use of appropriate channels and so on.
- Publication of articles, guidance and instructions, guiding message creators on process and requirements, suggesting optimum message formats, and coordinating publication timings
- Hands on support to colleagues in producing clear communications, including structuring of communications, and best practice guidance / training on use of other formats, e.g. production of video, podcasts, use of info-graphics, presentations etc
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience of working in a fast paced and creative internal communications team, preferably in financial services
- Project management experience is desirable
- Ability to thrive in an evolving working environment having previously worked with change projects, business transformation and digital transformation – developing communication plans, using multi-channel approaches and measuring success
- Track record of implementing initiatives and campaigns which enhance employee engagement, reinforcing the brand and values – either independently or as part of a wider internal communications team
- Drive, enthusiasm and commitment to get involved in all aspects communications
- Well organised, methodical, accurate and an eye for detail
- Able to demonstrate excellent copy-writing and editing skills for various channels such as intranets, micro-sites, newsletters, features and interviews
- Able to have successful stakeholder relationships at all levels, displaying confidence and a solid understanding of needs and requirements of internal stakeholders
- Has had involvement with work that includes handling sensitive/confidential information and projects, displaying discretion and sensitivity
- Able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of the evolving workplace and internal communications practices
- Creative and able to think in innovative ways
