Standby Shop Assistant Frome, England

Blue Cross For Pets
Full Time Frome, England 12.22 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

Job title: Standby Shop Assistant
Contract: Zero hours contract
Salary: £12.22 per hour
Location: Frome, BA11 1BS
Closing date: 7 June 2023

Blue Cross is one of the UK’s leading animal welfare organisations. We have over 50 charity shops throughout England and Wales.

Our generous supporters donate a mixture of clothes, books, toys, household goods and soft furnishings that we sell in our shops and online. All the money raised goes towards enabling Blue Cross to support sick, injured, and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes.

More about the role

We have a fantastic shop in Frome; it’s well supported with plenty to do.

As a Standby Shop Assistant you will assist the Shop Manager to achieve and maximise shop sales and profit and to identify other income opportunities for the shop. To help manage and motivate a team of volunteers and to have full responsibility for the effective running of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager.

You will be on a zero hour’s contract and therefore you will not have regular hours of work but will be on standby to work shifts as and when required.

If you want to work in a role that makes a positive difference every day to the pets in our care then look no further. We are proud of our charity which has been working tirelessly since 1897 to help pets and invite you to join our team of dedicated people and continue to make history for many years to come.

If you excel in an environment where you can see the difference you make every day then this is the role for you. Interested? Then apply and let’s work together to see if this is the role for you.

What is required?
We are looking for people with the following:
  • Previous experience of working in a retail environment
  • Cash handling and reconciliation
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in a customer facing environment
  • Computer literacy and administration skills
It would also be great if you had:
  • Managing volunteers
