WHAT YOU WILL DO
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Communications Specialist who wants to help further build our brand with strategic and engaging communication. You will become part of a small team of Communications Specialists and report directly to the Director of Development and Communications.
You Will Also Do the Following as the Communications Specialist:
- Write for a variety of content formats, including press releases, internal announcements, and pages for our website
- Create content and manage social media platforms including SEO optimization and leveraging social advertising space.
- Maintain Ardmore’s organizational website and SharePoint hub
- Gain and maintain a deep understanding of our company’s mission, branding, style, policies, and processes
- Design and implement cross-functional and fundraising campaigns and communications projects with relevant departments and teams.
- Work with Communications Director on creating and implementing a communications strategy for the business
- Build strong relationships with external clients, vendors, journalists, and other stakeholders
- Design company logos, letterheads, brochures, presentations, promotional materials, and website elements.
Other Skill-Based Areas
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging multimedia content and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate must present writing samples and preferably also video samples. Inventive, warm, and compelling copywriting.
- Working knowledge of major social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok).
- Knowledge of and basic skills with photo and video editing software and equipment.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign plus Lightroom/Photoshop and Premiere.
- Basic knowledge of SEO best practices.
- Excellent visual and written communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with all constituents within a highly diverse university environment.
- Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stay organized.
- Ability to take initiative, solve problems and deliver results without close supervision.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree or experience in Communications, PR, Journalism, or a related field strongly preferred.
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in marketing, development, communications or related field
- Must be proficient with database software and information management technology.
- Ability to learn and apply new information quickly and apply best practices with industry standards.
- Previous experience creating different content formats
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- Easily build rapport and develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Social media experience strongly preferred
- Creative mindset and a drive to innovate
- Familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud applications
