Reporting to the Product Manager, the UX Designer is responsible for creating the user experience and design for the HTML5, Android and iOS applications. The designer will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in support of design initiatives. This role is based in our Toronto office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
1. Development Design – Create designs that deliver for the user and the business
- Conduct a review of current user experience and collaborate to discuss business objectives; Provide recommendations on the future state for Layout and Look;
- Using requirements documents and/or previous versions, develop storyboards, sketches/wireframes, and prototypes of new designs and present for feedback;
- Deliver creative design concepts and facilitate design workshops, persona development and client journey mapping sessions
- Provide design principles: colours, icons, fonts, page designs for a consistent look and feel following style guide and look-and-feel conventions; Monitor for compliance
2. User Experience – Deliver innovative and intuitive user design solutions
- Gather and evaluate user requirements from managers, developers, and business stakeholders; Translate needs and brand requirements into experiences that the development team can execute on
- Visualize and design user interface for web, desktop and mobile applications and produce designs based on user feedback and technical constraints.
- Design responsive, elegant and engaging user interfaces/layouts/components
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to lead the user experience strategy and user roadmaps to ensure a consistent user experience across all platforms
- Translate the user flows and wireframes into user-centered designs that best reflect the brand and is in line with best user interface design practices
- Identify design problems, and champion new ideas to solve design problems
3. Research – Work collaboratively to solve complex business problems
- Engage with the end user community and collaborate cross-functionally with the Services team
- Continually improve scope of knowledge, stay updated with the latest techniques, competitive products, industry standards, and tools in UX design.
- Effectively communicate and demonstrate design concepts, based on qualitative or quantitative data, to internal stakeholders using interactive prototypes
- Facilitate or participate in ideation and other co-design sessions, motivating all team members to take part in not only creating design solutions, but understanding requirements and supporting delivery.
- Ensure designs are meeting accessibility requirements and are WCAG AA compliant

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE
Experience/Knowledge:
- Portfolio of design projects
- 3+ years' experience working within user experience and UI design for mobile and web applications
- Extensive proficiency in wireframing, testing, designing and prototyping responsive, performant, flexible and adaptable user interfaces.
- Visual design skills, including experience using Sketch and/or similar
- Define and document use case flow
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Experience with HTML & CSS is an asset.
