Job Purpose
Reporting to the Communication and Engagement Officer, the postholder will contribute to the implementation of the School’s external engagement strategy. Raising the School profile through a broad range of communication and engagement activities across both the education and commercial sectors.
This will include working in partnership with colleagues to lead on the operational marketing and conversion activity to support recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff, deploying an array of communication and marketing tools including leading on the development of a local programme of events to profile the School and the campus more broadly.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support the Communications & Engagement Officer in effective implementation of the School’s external engagement and communication strategies.
2. Support the day-to-day amplification of school and college content through social networking sites including (but not exhaustive) Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other similar community sites, and filtering content into social applications as needed.
3. Develop and produce content for audio/live streaming channels – developing these channels to their full potential.
4. Monitor and manage various social media accounts (using a social media management/ analytics platform) to provide a consistent voice for all communications and ensure they operate in accordance with the overarching University social media guidelines.
5. Work together with colleagues throughout the Schools, College and University when determined, to create, manage and promote social media channels to fit with our External Engagement objectives. Provide support in the management of international engagement helping in the development of other country-specific social media presence.
6. Co-ordinate the operational implementation of the School’s student recruitment and conversion plans including:
- Internal and external social media and communications
- Student recruitment conversion activity
- Enhancing the content of the School’s digital presence across web and social platforms
- Continuously review and update all printed and digital marketing assets
- Co-ordinate the School’s participation in a range of annual events in the student recruitment schedule and ad-hoc events when required
- Representation at various local and national events e.g., UCAS and Careers Fairs
- Organise web chats and co-ordinate student and alumni participation
- Activities to support increasing diversity amongst the student population
- Act as Deputy Principal Web Publisher (dPWP), develop and maintain the School’s web presence and proactively manage the School’s social media presence more broadly ensuring it is at the forefront of social media trends and development
- Participate in public facing events on University Campuses to raise the profile of the School including conferences and seminars
- Undertake other duties related to this post as required and directed by the Communication and Engagement Officer & School Senior PS Team
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential
A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent.
A2 Excellent understanding of social media landscape, platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and social media trends (including understanding of latest technologies).
A3 Knowledge of using social analytics and management tools to schedule communications as well as provide detailed social media reports.
A4 Up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant UK student recruitment markets.
Desirable
B1 Knowledge and understanding of rankings within in a Higher Education setting
B2 Knowledge of usability and accessibility in relation to digital and social content.
B3 Knowledge of data protection legislation and how it relates to digital content (e.g. GDPR).

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 5, £23,715 - £27,929 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended.
