Communications Administrator

Salary £27,999.53 per annum
Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

At Oakhill Secure Training Centre we look after young people aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody.
Oakhill Secure Training Centre works closely with the Youth Custody Services to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.
We are looking for a Communications Administrator to develop and provide an effective communication strategy, utilising a variety of resources to effectively share information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective work systems, ensuring that all correspondence and documentation is dealt with in a professional manner that meets audit requirements.
- Provide some administrative services for various departments/teams upon request in order to fully support the centre.
- Attend departmental meetings to take minutes and distribute these in a timely manner
- Oversee all creative inputs on the company's communications and publications. Manage and monitor the Oakhill communications mailbox.
- Produce quarterly mandatory staff newsletters and be responsible for its distribution within the Centre.
- Maintaining a grid of upcoming communications events, opportunities and supporting the publications process. This includes being central to the Director’s communications programmes and ensuring that all relevant communication boards and monitor display are up to date.
- Working closely with the Director to produce and maintain the communications strategy for the centre.
- Assisting in the coordination of projects and programme activity across the various teams, by helping with the development of its content and identifying improvement of processes as required.
- Undertaking tasks, as required, to deliver Oakhill communications programmes, and contributing to the organisation’s broader objectives, undertaking a range of tasks as needed within a small team.
- Social media point of contact, this includes updating the website and LinkedIn.
- Supporting the production and dissemination of reports, annual surveys and other publications.
- Providing cover for the Director’s PA.
- All staff employed by G4S have the responsibility for their own Health & Safety and to their colleagues in order to assist G4S in its obligation to achieve British Safety Council Requirements at all times.

The Ideal Candidate:
Essential Skills
- High-level skills with google applications, including, Google Sheets, Docs and Slides.
- Able to present complex issues in a simple and straightforward manner
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in similar role
- Experience in Research and writing newsletters/internal bulletins
