What you’ll be doing
You will be assisting the brokers and finance team and serving as a steward for the data content, supporting the team to grow the business.
- Preparing comprehensive weekly and monthly dry bulk market reports to assist ship brokers in making well-informed decisions.
- Analysing and identifying market trends and patterns through continuous monitoring of the latest developments.
- Providing short and long-term forecasts by thoroughly examining economic reports and closely monitoring time charter rates for different trade routes and FFA curves on the Baltic exchange.
- Assessing the demand side of the market, including the performance of global commodities, and keeping a close eye on the supply side by tracking new ship-building orders and demolitions.
- Staying updated on regulatory changes imposed by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and evaluating their potential impact on current and future market scenarios.
- Cultivating strong relationships with brokers and maintaining regular communication to keep them well-informed about potential market activities and events, empowering them to make informed decisions.
- Support Management with useful management information relating to market trends and recent industry/market developments.
- Support Management for ad hoc reports when required.
- Attending international forums/conferences and other relevant events dry bulk related.
What we’re looking for from you
- Experience in the shipping or commodities sectors.
- Knowledge of the dry bulk shipping markets, including key players, trends, and regulations.
- A Master’s in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or a related field of study.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills in Excel and Word.
- Superior communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work as an effective team member.
- A keen analytical mindset to understand trade flows across the major commodities.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
