Job description
So…. What is this role exactly?
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join Your Housing Groups fast paced, Asset Management Team.
It is a great time to get involved here at YHG, as we establish a central commercial function, with significant planned works programmes identified, investment in our complex buildings and the continued growth of our in-house repairs team (Fix360). Reporting directly into the Head of Commercial and Investment, you will have significant opportunity to help shape our ways of working and improve our commercial management process throughout the Asset Directorate.
We are looking for someone who is passionate and enthusiastic with a Quantity Surveying background and strong commercial/financial track record, developed within a multi-stakeholder and regulated environment. Able to manage the financial and contractual arrangements with internal and external contractors, suppliers and consultants across diverse construction activities including responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance, voids, facilities management, compliance, and planned investment projects.
What will my working week look like?
You will be home based, living within the Northwest, within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Warrington, to attend meetings and training courses. You’ll be required to visit our Head Office approximately twice a month.
What will I be responsible for doing?
First and foremost, you will be responsible for the management of commercial activity for YHG including responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance, voids, facilities management, compliance, and planned investment projects.
One of the great things about this role is you will have the opportunity to manage the financial and contractual arrangements with both internal and external contractors, suppliers and consultants across various works packages and disciplines.
You will monitor expenditure, including cash flow forecasts, financial statements, and associated performance information, assess and certify applications for payment and prepare tender documentation to allow us to secure the services of a robust supply chain either at project level or multi supplier frameworks.
And what would make me stand out from the crowd?
A Quantity Surveying Degree or equivalent qualification, followed by strong experience within a Commercial Manager role will make you stand out to us, along with: -
- Knowledge and experience in the procurement and commercial delivery of construction contracts within the public sector
- Experience in the commercial management of property related contracts
- Experience of the social Housing Sector
- Good understanding and management of risk and financial planning
- Strong knowledge of building legislation and maintenance management best practice
This role is really suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces a culture of continuous improvement, and enjoys both building and managing relationships.
If you feel this could be the right role for you, we would love to hear from you!
That all sounds great, what’s in it for me?
In return we offer a salary of £55,000 - £62,000 for a 35-hour week, and 25 days annual leave (holidays also increase with length of service) plus Bank Holidays, but our employee deal offers much more than just a competitive salary and holiday allowance.
At Team YHG we measure performance on outputs and quality, not hours and minutes. We offer a flexible, homeworking culture where you’re trusted to get the job done. If you need time for an appointment, the school run or an exercise class, if it fits with business needs, we’re open to what works for you too. And when you need to collaborate with your team, you can visit Youggle House – our purpose-built collaboration, wellbeing, and social space in Birchwood, Warrington.
On top of this, we’ll provide you with a great benefits package, including a contributory pension where we match whatever you choose to contribute (up to 8%), an advanced level Healthcare cash plan through BHSF, that doesn’t just provide dental and optician cashback but also health and wellbeing benefits (such as 24/7 GP Access, money back from prescriptions and alternative therapy treatments) and an amazing discount scheme that gives you access to half price cinema tickets, subsidised gym memberships and a huge range of discounts with some of the biggest high street and online names.
