They are seeking a Commercial Manager/Managing Quantity Surveyor on a full-time and permanent basis, focused on leading commercial procurement activities (subcontractor facing).

Salary: £ Negotiable + Annual Bonus + 5% ER Pension Contribution + 35 Days Holiday + Private Health Care + Life Insurance (x3 Salary) + £ 5,700 p.a. Car Allowance

The Person
This role is ideal for someone coming from a Main Contractor / SME / Regional Contractor and is used to a fast-paced environment with a great culture of teamwork and pride in delivering a well-run project.
Candidates with a minimum of 2-years‘ experience post-qualification will be considered, as the company considers the ability, ambition and personality attributes of the candidate the most important driver in a successful role.
The successful hire will also:
Have experience of taking principal / main contractor positions on contracts and projects (core)
Possess excellent communication skills (both written and spoken), have a high-level of organisational skills and a strong commercial awareness (management)
Have the ability to support a team, and to work alongside the team where situations arise that require it (leadership)
Have the ability to build productive and transparent relationships with subcontractors. You will have previously managed subcontractors and be savvy of the requirements to ensure the highest standards of delivery (relationship)
Whilst the role is predominantly office based, the ability to travel UK wide is required (flexibility)
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting, training and coaching the commercial team on:
Preparing and managing procurement schedules (Civils, M+E, Internals, Facades etc)
Negotiation with Subcontractor / Supply Chain
Normalising through measures and rates to procure packages.
Preparing and executing subcontract agreements
Managing subcontract agreements including:
Periodic valuations
Contract notices
Final accounts
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
Managing direct reports (Commercial Managers / Project Co-Ordinators) across 5 project delivery teams
Reporting into the Commercial Director
Direct responsibility for escalated commercial issues
