The role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Account Handler, to help achieve our ambition of continued growth across the business here at the Jensten Group. Reporting to the Head of Trading, the main purpose of the role is to work closely with the Account Exec’s to process existing and new risks, preparing and issuing contract certain quotations and renewal terms to sub-brokers. To succeed in this role, you will need to be a team player that can utilise new and existing broker relationships and cross referrals from other Jensten group businesses in a collaborative manner. Some key objectives & responsibilities will include:

  • Handling commercial new business and renewal enquiries, contacting brokers to assess their requirements and relaying these to placing brokers, insurers or handle under company binding authorities.
  • Ensuring the efficient processing of the insurance accounts to ensure client expectations are met (Renewals, Claims, Mid-Term Amendments).
  • Contributing to the Division’s income function by ensuring renewal retention exceeds divisional targets and manage a pipeline of new business enquiries in line with the team strategy.
  • Assisting with the preparation, production and checking of policy documentation.
  • Reviewing and processing surveys and risk management reports
  • Liaising with the Broking team to ensure client’s commercial requirements are met.
  • Building new and strengthening existing relationships with producing brokers as the primary catalyst in securing the growth of the division


About you

As one of our Commercial Account Handlers, you’ll enjoy building new relationships and strengthening existing ones. Having a keen eye for detail, you’ll be well-organised and have excellent technical skills. You’ll also be or have:

  • Strong London Market experience (required) and a willingness to develop (via training sessions and by studying towards relevant qualifications)
  • Be able to prioritise and organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to
  • Use good interpersonal skills, including questioning and listening
  • Use judgement and experience of insurance matters to know when to seek help or advice from supervisor or other senior colleagues
  • Be able to apply own judgement and experience when making decisions or giving advice to clients, including when to refer to an alternative appropriate expert
  • Demonstrate confident and effective communication skills, being able to effectively analyse client needs and develop solutions
