Working for the Department/Faculty
Interviewers (Data Collectors) are responsible for data collection within the Translating Research into Elder Care (TREC) program at the University of Alberta, working specifically on the Alberta TREC Measurement System (TMS) Project. TREC is a collaborative partnership of investigators and decision-makers whose aim is to improve the quality of life and quality of care for older people in residential care.
Position
Interviewers will complete structured interview data from front-line staff using computer assisted personal interview (CAPI) methods. They will be primarily responsible for conducting virtual and/or in-person face-to-face structured interviews with staff. Responsibilities will also include other data collection duties identified below and as required.
The successful candidates will collect survey and other data in approximately 60 Long-Term care facilities across Alberta. The successful candidates must be prepared to work remotely from home with access to a private space to conduct interviews. Some data collectors may have to travel if in-person interviews are required. Working hours will vary per week.
Duties
- Participates in mandatory data collection training, including an Interview Training Session (TBD)
- Completes virtual (via ZOOM) or in-person structured interviews with Health Care Aides working in long-term care
- Provides support and problem-solving with the scheduling and execution of virtual or in-person interviews
- Provides regular shift updates on data collection to the Regional Project Coordinator
- Works with the Regional Project Coordinators to maintain strong relationships and communication with participating nursing homes and staff
- Conducts quality assurance activities to maintain data quality standards
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a health or social sciences-related discipline preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience in conducting structured interviews (virtually or in-person).
- Experience working remotely using a variety of communication tools and video conferencing solutions is an asset.
- Experience in a research setting, working with confidential data and working with health professionals’ preferred.
- Proficiency with computers and/or tablets is required, ability to take the initiative and problem-solve technical issues.
- Ability to multi-task and address multiple simultaneous priorities in an effective, efficient manner.
- Detail oriented with strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.
- Self-motivating, displaying personal initiative and an ability to work within a team.
- Experience in a long-term care environment or other health care setting is an asset.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
