The First Nations Health Authority is a diverse and transformational health organization of professional, innovative, and dedicated team members and leaders. The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support self-determination and decision-making to improve health outcomes.
The First Nations Regional Health Survey (RHS) is the only First Nations -governed, national health survey in Canada. It collects information about on-reserve and northern First Nations communities based on both Western and traditional understandings of health and well-being. This survey will be conducted primarily online and by telephone.
Title: Data Collector, Regional Health Survey
Contract: Term until March 2024
Hours: 16.75hr/week
Wage: $20/hr
Location: All B.C. (Working from home is an option in line with FNHA’s work policy - minimum of two days a week in office).
About the role
Reporting to the a Regional Field Supervisor, the DATA COLLECTORS, will implement the RHS by engaging participants on reserve and collecting data according to the methods requested by community leadership. You will make initial contact with participant to discuss the survey and the participant’s role and respond to any questions the participant may have in regards to the survey. You will ensure that participants provide informed consent prior to survey completion, and schedule an appointment with the participant for telephone survey completion. You will conduct confidential data collection activities, using a laptop computer, as directed by the Field Supervisor.
About you
You have the physical ability to perform the duties of the position. You have the basic skills including use of spreadsheets and word processing preferred. You have the ability to navigate multiple electronic devices and programs. You have the ability to work independently, and as part of a team, with minimal supervision. You can handle sensitive and confidential information and matters in a trusted and responsible manner. You must be available to work evenings and Saturdays, hours are subject to change depending upon operational requirements. Travel is an expectaion of this role. You must know how to speak, read and write English, and have effective interpersonal skills
- You have a Valid British Columbia driver’s license, and access to a personal vehicle is an asset
- You must attend virtual training sessions prior to data collection
- Experience working with First Nations is an asset
- Data collection experience in a survey project and Knowledge of OCAP® principles are assets
