Coffee Shop Assistant
Job brief
The post holder will be responsible for providing a warm, welcoming and high-quality customer experience within our coffee shop. Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages to the highest standards in accordance with our menus. This will include the use of a commercial coffee machine and till operating system. You will maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in all kitchen/coffee shop areas by following established daily procedures. This role involves being proactive and using foresight to see where you can be the most helpful next. Due to the nature of the role, the post holder must have the ability to work weekends including Sundays as required.
Hours-22.5 hours per week

Salary- £10.42 per hour

Key Tasks
- Preparation of food, snacks and beverages and presenting them in a visually appealing way
- Serving of meals and beverages to visitors, staff and others
- Serve hot drinks using a professional barista coffee machine (training provided)
- Setting and clearing of tables
- General kitchen and coffee shop duties including washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables, cleaning of the kitchen and coffee shop and surrounding area to include all work surfaces, coffee shop furniture, floors and walls.
- To assist in ensuring a high level of health and safety, cleanliness and food hygiene and to ensure that safe working practices are followed. To report any problems to the Shop Manager
- Assist in stock taking and storage of stock, including checking delivers
- Attending training courses as appropriate
- Provide a high standard of customer service which is friendly and courteous at all times
- To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job
Additional responsibilities:
- Comply with the Charities Health and Safety policy in all employment practices
- Maintain the integrity of the Daisy Chain brand in all internal and external communications
- Maintain a proactive approach to your role and responsibilities along with a commitment to contribute and maintain the positive working ethos within the Charity
- Maintain working knowledge of the policies and regulations governing the Charity
- Assure attendance at staff meetings.
- Undertake any training and development deemed necessary for the pursuance of the post
- Work in a way that contributes to the continuous improvement of the Charitys services and embraces the organisations quality initiatives
- Any other duties from time to time, commensurate with the level of the post

Experience
- Experience working in a Coffee Shop environment E, A & I
- Experience of making and preparing food E, A, I & T
- Experience of working in a customer facing role (retail, bars, restaurants etc) E, A & I
- Barista experience D, T & I
- Have experience of running a Coffee Shop on a day to day basis E, A & I
- Food handling and food hygiene E & A
- Cash handling D & A
- Experience of working within the voluntary sector D, A & I
Qualifications
