We currently have a part time (approx. 10-20 hours per week, based on your availability) position available within our team. Shifts for this position are mainly centred around weekend evenings and nights.
Please note that some of our shifts are late night shifts (we close at midnight on Fridays & Saturdays, and 11 p.m. the rest of the week) and therefore you would need to be able to travel home between an hour to two hours after closing.
Key shift information: Due to our riverside garden location we are extremely busy over summer! Also, our corporate clientele make us a natural choice for Christmas office parties! Due to these trading patterns we are unable to recruit any candidates who would need to leave Manchester for an extended period over May-August/ November-December (other than for short, routine holidays). Being available to work at least two of the days over Easter Bank Holiday each year is mandatory for this position as this is the busiest week of our year.
You do not necessarily need any experience but you do need to be able to demonstrate that you are a great team player as well as being able to work unsupervised during busy times and keen to learn.
Joining our team as a Cocktail Bartender with Slug & Lettuce will give you the opportunity to develop important skills such as:
- Communication skills, by listening to customers, engaging and building a rapport with them and by dealing with challenging people and situations
- Experience of working under pressure including managing a workload at busy times
- Developing an understanding of customer needs and using this knowledge to improve the business, for example, passing on or responding to customers’ requests and suggestions
- Building a commercial awareness and the experience of working in a commercial environment
- Working with regulations such as health and safety and licensing laws, and making sure that colleagues understand them

Our current rates of pay are: 18-20 year olds £8.60, 21-22 year olds £9.20 p/h, 23+ year olds £9.50 p/h. Supplementary pay is paid on key dates over the Xmas and New Years period.
