Marketing Officer Job Description
The role will require close cooperation with:
· All members of the senior leadership team and staff
Our Client is looking for a person with energy, drive and enthusiasm. The chosen candidate will be responsible for promoting the organisation to the local and wider community and raising their profile in the immediate area.
The role supports all matters relating to Marketing across the whole organisation . The job falls into five principle categories:
1. Marketing Material
-Produce a quarterly digital newsletter highlighting events, using appropriate regular film and photo content.
-Manage and publish high-end printed material including the annual magazine.
This will require excellent copywriting and proofing skills. A close attention to detail is a pre- requisite.
-Produce promotional material to promote the organisation's offering and events – including adverts, flyers, banners and give-away goodies.
-Work with external designers, photographers and printers to produce high quality material.
-Monitor competitor material and track the effectiveness of campaigns.
-Manage stock control of all marketing material and give-aways.
-Structure and organise all artwork and photographic files and graphic assets.
-Uphold the brand guidelines in all marketing activity. The ability to use relevant computer software, including Canva, is required and a creative talent to redesign existing in house design templates is essential.
2. Website, social media and customer communications
-Maximise the organisation's online profile, and ensure fresh, relevant copy.
-Help to manage current and other social media tools that develop in future.
-Proactively push social media opportunities of all areas of life within the organisation
-Assist in the continual development of the website.
-Report on digital channel statistics as appropriate.
3. Event Management
- Manage the promotion and letting of facilities provided to the wider public by the organisation with external agencies e.g. Gym, Sports and Swim facilities.
Take responsibility for the organisation and running of planned events and managing a larger stand at bigger profile shows where required.
-Document events processes and track effectiveness of events.
-Manage sponsorship packages with external organisations including advertising and brand presence at events and matches.
- Liaise with The Estate Manager to ensure they are fully briefed on all external events taking place at weekends etc
4. Public Relations
-Help source media coverage opportunities.
-Write press releases and news stories for the website and media distribution.
-Communicate PR coverage within the community.
-Be a first point of contact within the organisation for any press enquiries.
- Actively promote the organisation for external Awards programmes
5. Planning, Reporting and Budgets
-Write the annual marketing plan.
-Chair meetings of the Marketing Committee
-Attend external meetings by invitation
-Provide a written reports to the Senior Management Team
-Keep the marketing plan updated through the year and undertake quarterly reviews
-Track all invoices and manage the marketing budget.
-Helping manage and maintain the marketing database.
-Assist with competitor research.
-Support the department with any other duties that fall into the spirit of the job description.
Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
-Strong digital marketing skills and the ability to understand and utilise social media tools to update The community and also to promote the organisation to prospective customers and increase enquiries.
- Excellent copywriter and proof reader with an avid attention to detail.
- Event management skills – ability to organise and assist other staff with marketing events.
- Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach with the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload in order to meet strict deadlines.
-Confident, motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision whilst also being an effective and flexible team player.
-Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to forge relationships with all users of the service
-Creative eye for design
-Co-operative, reliable, supportive, with a “can do” attitude and a desire to learn.
-A sense of humour with the ability to remain calm and cope with theunexpected.
-Marketing experience is essential, potentially from within an agency environment, or a growing business, experience of the education / training sector although not essential would be desirable.

All candidates for posts will be asked to provide suitable references, undergo an enhanced DBS check and will be asked, at interview, questions about safeguarding.
All posts require staff to conduct themselves in a highly professional manner when dealing with service users. Staff are expected to appreciate and promote the ethos and image of the organisation and should ensure that in all their actions and words they market the organisation in a positive manner.
Staff are expected to be aware of their own Health and Safety and to that of those around them and should take all reasonable steps to ensure that no one is placed in danger.
Working Hours – The requirements of this position are as follows:
· This is a permanent position.
· Monday – Friday with 5 weeks paid leave
· Working between the hours of 9.00am and 3.00pm, 6 hours a day or 3.30pm finish with lunch
Salary – 6 hours a day x 5 days a week x 52 weeks a year at £22 per hour = £34,320 per annum
Start Date – 1st September 2023 or sooner if possible
