Due to the sensitive nature of this role you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

Why this job matters:

In your role as a Cloud Engineer, you’ll bring your technical expertise to bear on interesting and challenging problems within Cyber Security. You will solve real-word problems for customers and deliver solutions in an agile manner and ensure we build exactly what they need to time/cost/quality. You will have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of technologies, hardware, and DevOps practices. The solutions you create will utilise the latest technologies, demonstrate innovation and thought-leadership, and provide brilliant outcomes for customers

What you’ll do:

Be hands on in the build and development of world class secure cloud-based solutions as part of an agile delivery team.
Contribute to the design of cloud solutions.
Work directly with our customers to understand their requirements.
Translate architectural designs into infrastructure-as-code defined solutions.
Working with support teams to enable management and monitoring of cloud-based systems, and their ongoing support.
Provide some third line support to deployed cloud-based solutions.

You’ll definitely:

Have experience utilising cloud services, both compute and appropriate managed services. Primarily in AWS, but any expertise in Azure and GCP would be relevant as well.
Have experience with cloud architectures and the ability to appropriately apply the relevant techniques. For example, AWS Well Architected Framework and Event-driven workflows.
Have a desire to continually update, enhance and validate own skills.

You might even:

Have some experience managing infrastructure-as-code, for example using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
Have some experience using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc) to define processes and serverless functions.
Have experience carrying out regular platform management and maintenance activities such as user management, platform monitoring and patch management.
Have experience automating specific management and maintenance activities, to support BAU tasks in complex systems environments. (e.g. new cloud account creation, bulk user management, environment housekeeping, monitoring and compliance).
Have familiarity with micro-service and container based deployment strategies, and a zero trust authorization model.
Have some experience with iterative full-stack MVC web development in appropriate languages (for example node.js or python).
Have some experience maintaining and operating capabilities through-life
Be familiar with agile delivery processes.
Know how to apply software engineering principles to complex systems at scale.
Have experience in internal and external stakeholder management and engagement
Have some cloud certifications, though while desirable practical experience is more important.
