An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as one of the Clinical Leads for Westminster Community Mental Health Hub (CMHH). We are looking for a candidate with robust clinical expertise who is also able to demonstrate progressive skills in leadership and service development.
The North Westminster Community Mental Health Hub, based in Woodfield Road is looking for a passionate candidate who is looking to make a difference whilst working in an environment that promotes staff development and training opportunities. CNWL is passionate about developing its own staff, driving them to go on to become more established practitioners and this post is no different.
There are 2 Community Mental Health Hubs in Westminster, one North and one in the South, each is aligned to two local Primary Care Networks (PCN). Working in this way allows each Hub to have a core structure and function to meet the needs of the local population, aligned with our primary care colleagues.
Flexible working- Our Hub operates Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm however there are opportunities for this post to be tailored to suit you and your lifestyle needs with some flexible workingavailable in a team that is dynamic and transforming the way we offer support to people in Westminster with mental health challenges. The successful applicant will take the day to day clinical and team management responsibility at team level using performance management systems to ensure the effective delivery of clinical activity and quality standards to meet service specifications. You will also be expected to work in collaboration with the Operational Team Manager, Clinical Leads/Senior Practitioners and to have close working relationships with the Inpatient Service and HTT.

In conjunction with the team manager:
- To be the clinical team leader for the CMHT, responsible for the clinical practice of the team and ensuring that priorities are met.
- To assist and deputise for colleagues in the Mental Health Hub other sub-team as necessary
- To line manage CPNs, OTs, unqualified staff and to line manage the work of the psychologists.
- To ensure systems for the delivery of CPA and Personalisation are in place and that they are made available to service users in the team
- To work within the relevant legislative frameworks |(e.g. Mental Health Act (1983) Mental Capacity Act (2005), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs), the Care Act 2014 etc
- To promote a culture of service user choice and control within team members daily practice to be monitored and developed through supervision and appraisal
- To ensure that the team works within the relevant frameworks and policies for safeguarding vulnerable adults
- To ensure that services within the multidisciplinary team are well co-ordinated in so that they are responsive and attuned to the needs of its service users
- To ensure that systems are in place for monitoring assessments, allocation, caseloads and clinical review processes
- To ensure that clinical supervision is given to all health qualified staff in the team and to ensure that staff work to high standards of professional practice.
- To demonstrate a high level of clinical competence both in relation to supervision of staff and direct face to face contact with service users
- To be a member of the Hub management team. To advise the Mental Health Hub manager regarding the delivery of community mental health services and be involved in identifying the resources needed in the team.
- To ensure that the service works in co-ordination with other Community and Acute In-Patient services.
- To ensure effective liaison with other relevant agencies
- To maintain and develop administrative procedures regarding the recording of case records.
- To ensure that the service works in a co-productive way with service users, their families and stakeholders in the development of the team and local services
- To facilitate the development of effective supporting structures for carers in line with CNWL and WCC guidelines
CLINICAL
STANDARD:
- Foster and implement a multi-disciplinary team approach in all aspects of clinical and non-clinical performance.
- Screen and accept referrals and undertake initial assessment in accordance with the Teams Operational Policy.
- Work as a leading member of the multidisciplinary team; and work with other team members, to participate in the formulation, review, implementation and monitoring policies for the service.
- Provide immediate support to patients, relatives and carers.
- Follow up will use appropriate evidence based clinical skills. The post holder will be expected to function during follow up sessions as an autonomous practitioner.
- Provide support and information for significant others involved in patient care, or referral to appropriate agencies.
- Take direct responsibility for supervising caseload management of other, junior team members.
- Give information/support to telephone callers and junior colleagues within/outside the team regarding mental health issues, documenting as required.
- Demonstrate a high standard of record keeping and documentation with adherence to CNWL NHS Trusts policy, and understanding of professional guidelines and application of confidentiality, always adhering to the guidelines of own professional code of conduct, ensuring that team members also adhere to these standards.
- Work with colleagues to develop, lead, promote and define the services philosophy, framework of care delivery and strategic objectives, taking responsibility and accepting ownership for specific areas of policy, service, and strategy delivery, as negotiated with the CMHT Service Manager.
- Work with fellow team members and colleagues to lead on and develop clinical expertise and high standards of clinical practice
- Provide expert advice and leadership regarding the pharmacological management of mental health clients to non- mental health professionals.
- Deliver care that is evidence based, reflecting current best practices and research.
- Participate in and provide for others, structured clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate sound understanding of the legal and ethical issues in caring for those with mental health difficulties and be able to monitor the use of these with team members to integrate into practices within the team.
- Maintain, monitor, report on and provide statistical and IT information systems as required by Team Manager or other Trust Departments.
- Demonstrate and communicate appropriate knowledge and experience and be able to advise and provide a lead in issues regarding the use of the Mental Health Act (1983), Deprivation of Liberty (DoLs) and Mental Capacity Act (2005) in non-mental health environments.
