Clinical Research Fellow (CRF) Brain Radiotherapy
Co-funded by Velindre Charitable Funds and the Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC), this CRF provides an opportunity for an oncology trainee to pursue a laboratory-based research degree (MD) with a high-profile academic group at Cardiff University (CU.) In addition, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge clinical research at the Cardiff Cancer Research Hub (CCRH), based at the University Hospital of Wales and Velindre Cancer Centre.
This Fellowship will be focused on developing translational radiotherapy research in brain cancers, a hard-to-treat cancer through to the clinic, for patient benefit. Performing translational and reverse translational research using these novel agents in advanced, patient derived laboratory models of cancer, mentored by joint academic and clinical supervisors.
This provides a rare opportunity for a trainee oncologist to undertake a dedicated period of research, equipping them with the skills, knowledge to become a future cancer research leaders for Velindre and Wales. They will be supported to take up clinical academic or NHS research consultant posts thereafter.
