Working in the NIHR / Birmingham Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Birmingham Childrens Hospital you will assist in the screening and recruitment of participants, delivery of clinical interventions and care required for the study (e.g., IV drug infusions, venepuncture, cannulation), observing and responding to side effects ensuring the accurate collection and submission of research data, in line with the study protocols and research regulations.
Our multidisciplinary team work together to deliver a variety of research studies; this might include the delivery of a clinical trial of a potential new medicine/treatment or finding out more about how a childhood disease progresses over time.
Children and young people who are taking part in research visit our facility for outpatient, day case or inpatient stays. The unit is equipped to offer overnights and weekends, ensuring we can offer a 24/7 service.
Informal visits to the unit are encouraged.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated childrens research nurse to join our team.
You will be qualified as a childrens nurse with research experience, have excellent communication skills, good analytical and problem-solving skills and have an interest in pursuing a career in clinical research. As an experienced paediatric nurse, you will work closely with the clinical research teams; being responsible for the management of a portfolio of clinical research studies, ensuring high quality family centered care is delivered to research patients. This will include managing and prioritising your own and others workload and deputising as required.
A comprehensive induction and training/development program will be provided.
