A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) post has become available within the Pain Service at Mid and South Essex University Hospitals . The successful candidate will be joining a well- established integrated service based at Broomfield Hospital.
This multidisciplinary clinical team consists of specialist medical and non-medical staff supported by a robust administrative and secretarial service. The CNSs provide inpatient advice and guidance to staff and patients in the hospital, some of whom may have complex pain presentation. The CNSs also ensure a safe epidural service across the Trust. These transferrable skills will also be used in an outpatient setting in nurse led clinics
This Clinical Nurse Specialist role requires expert input into the multidisciplinary management of pain in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Risk management, Trust-wide education and training , and clinical provision of care are the three main elements of responsibility.
Development and provision of education and training in pain management trust-wide for staff and patients
Provision of clinical advice and support to staff and patients across the Trust based on expert knowledge and evidence based practice
Formulation of evidence-based acute and chronic pain management strategies in liaison with the patient and appropriate health care professionals
Risk management in accordance with clinical governance requirements in pain management practices Trust wide
Interdisciplinary practice development incorporating data analysis of audit and research relevant to the subject of pain management
