Job description
Our friendly and supportive team based at the Garden Clinic (Sexual Health) in Slough, are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join a growing team.
We are a busy level 3 sexual health service based in Slough. We offer sexual health service Windsor, Maidenhead, Ascot, and Bracknell via our satellite service. We work on aMonday to Fridaybasis, working 1 Saturday every 4 to 6 weeks.
Due to the nature of this role, we are looking for those who are open minded and non-judgemental, with the ability to work in a highly confidential environment. Previous family planning or sexual health experience within GUM setting is essential for this role.
You will have the opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team, where we offer incredible training opportunities, such as non-medical prescribers training.
Working within Sexual Health, no day is the same and you will be met with a variation of cases from testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, and contraception. Giving you the exposure to develop and enhance your current skillset!

To undertake nurse-led clinical sessions, including history taking and physical examinations of patients, within agreed departmental clinical guidelines and within own clinical competence.
To issue medication and /or administer medication / vaccinations to patients attending the Sexual Health Service adhering legally to Patient Group Directions (PGDs) when authorized by lead clinician.
Be willing to undertake training in specific areas clinical practice, including intrauterine and implant procedure, and apply this development in the clinical setting in accordance with department clinical guidance.
Be willing to undertake training to gain independent (non-medical) prescribing status and apply to clinical practice in accordance with department and organisation non-medical prescribing policies.
Teach patients, where appropriate to administer their own treatment as necessary.
Provide clinical support, to junior staff leadership and judgement to ensure that high standards of care and clinical practice are maintained.
Be a designated trainer for students undertaking sexual health courses.
The “must haves” for this role:
Registered Adult Nurse with extensive post qualification experience
Sexual health Qualification (SRH)
Desirable Genitourinary/HIV Qualification (GUM)
Active on mentor register/ Experience of supervising students.
