Role: Clinical Negligence Solicitor
Place of work: Glasgow, West George Street
Contract type: Permanent 35 hours
Working Hours: 35 hours a week, Monday Friday 9am 5pm

If the answer is yes, then we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking to recruit a Solicitor to join our busy Clinical Negligence department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience working within a Litigation department and has a particular interest in Clinical Negligence claims.
Candidates can be newly qualified or have up to 3 years post qualification experience. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills whilst benefiting from working in a firm who invest in their staff. The Role
The ideal candidate should be focused and pro-active with a positive attitude and flexible approach to their work. A caring and compassionate nature, suited to dealing with emotions and sensitive matters is essential.
You should have experience handling both pre-litigated & litigated cases in the Sheriff Courts and the All Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court. Candidates should be comfortable providing practical and legal advice to clients. You will be required to undertake Court advocacy and to instruct both Counsel and expert witnesses. Whilst it is desirable, it is not essential for you to have experience handling Clinical Negligence cases.
The role within this growing team will involve progressing clinical negligence claims for pursuers. You will have the opportunity to handle a wide variety of cases such as delayed diagnosis, hospital negligence, GP claims, surgical negligence and birth injury claims. You will work individually and within a team alongside other qualified and non-qualified colleague to support the wider needs of the department and the business as a whole.

Who are you?
- Solicitor with up to 3 years PQE

Experience handling and progressing both pre-litigated & litigated cases in the Sheriff Court and ASSPIC
- Strong advocacy skills
- Good knowledge of Court practice and procedures
- Good knowledge in personal injury law and able to interpret legislation and case law
- Strong communication and good organisational skills
- Compassionate and empathetic nature with good client handling skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative

Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise
- Good IT and MS office skills
- Good commercial awareness
- Experience & focus to meet key performance indicators and targets
Additionally, it would be desirable but not essential for you to have the following:
- Experience handling clinical negligence cases
