Horizon Victim and Witness Liaison officer

The Police and Crime Commissioner is putting Victims and Witnesses first ensuring that they have the right support and know how to access the Criminal Justice System; understand how it works and are kept informed throughout their journey. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Horizon team, providing support and guidance to victims and witnesses of crime throughout the Criminal justice process.

The salary is a W7 role starting at £27,384 and thereby rising in 2 increments to £27,849 and then £28,500.

The post holder will carry a personal portfolio of work and have the responsibility of being a dedicated single point of contact providing support, signposting and court updates to victims and witnesses, working to tight timescales in a demanding, secure and confidential environment. Ideally with a background of customer services, you will need to be able to deal with people over the telephone in a tactful and sympathetic manner.

The Criminal Justice System can be confusing and daunting and this is a great opportunity to help shape and improve the experience for victims and witnesses often at a distressing and vulnerable time in their lives.

Internal applicants: All applications for secondments must be supported by your 1st and 2nd line manager. Please forward support to the recruitment inbox before the closing date. Any applicants that have not provided support will not be progressed. Please ask your managers to include a potential release date in their support for planning purposes.

Where a candidates Bradford score exceeds 192, specific reference should be made to it by their line manager with reasons as to why the application should be supported.

All vacancies advertised as secondment/fixed term contract have the potential to go permanent in the future.

Wiltshire Police recognise the important of our employees' health, wellbeing, and work life balance. Where possible we endeavour to accommodate the needs of our staff and welcome applications for those wanting a more flexible approach to working patterns.
