We are looking for technicians who are targeting a career in Data Center management, Software Development, System Development or Technical projects. We build and maintain the physical infrastructure that supports our Data Centre of devices and in-lab appliances and work closely with software teams to create an effective testing platform. You will be following defined operating procedures to extend, populate and maintain the lab spaces that contain TVs, Set-Top Boxes, Games Consoles, Streaming Sticks, control appliances and their associated hardware components such as power distribution units, cameras and Infra-Red blasters.
You will be part of a team that is ultimately responsible for the hardware, facilities and logistical set-up, configuration and maintenance of a data-centre of 1000s of devices that run 24/7 at optimal efficiency. You will be expected to follow health and safety processes and adhere to tight security and quality standards. This will include following processes to accurately install and configure third party devices, computer hardware, racking and cabling infrastructure.
You will work with vendors, third-party manufacturers and couriers to arrange intake of cutting-edge devices, computer hardware and racking infrastructure and use inventory management tools to track the movement of our inventory across multiple data-centre sites and locations. This role therefore requires apprentices to have a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational ability. To be successful in this role you’ll need to advocate customer obsession and look to champion quality and efficiency in every phase of operational process.
This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment up to 40lbs; it may require working in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines.
As an Information Communication Technician Apprentice at Amazon, you’ll gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills. You will work towards the Level 3 information communications technician apprenticeship standard as well as other industry related qualifications.
You will build your skills over a 15-month period, starting in July, which will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will be made up of;
Alongside extensive development of your technical skills, you will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas like organization, prioritization, data and problem-solving techniques, teamwork, communication, presentation skills and document writing.
You will work alongside the team, supporting with day to day tasks learning how Amazon works and delivers for its customers. As your knowledge and skills increase over the duration of the scheme you will have opportunities to be part of and lead projects, making a difference for customers. The on the job experience will help you build a portfolio of evidence towards your apprenticeship. You will be given dedicated time to focus on your studies to help you stay on track and work towards successfully completing your qualification(s). Once you have successfully completed your Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship you will be able to apply for relevant roles across the business.
You will attend a number of workshops across the duration of the apprenticeship, workshops will be a mix of face to face and online delivery by a training provider. You will also attend internal workshops/ trainings to support you in developing Amazon related skills and knowledge. Depending on the scheme and location of the training provider you may be required to travel and stay overnight. (costs will be supported by Amazon)
Key job responsibilities
You will be combining working in your assigned team as an Information Communication Technician Apprentice whilst continuing your studies to achieve your qualification. As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviors to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.

- Hardware & software troubleshooting experience (server/computer/mobile)
- Experience installing and racking servers, computers or A/V devices
- Basic understanding of network protocols; TCP/IP and L2/L3 technologies
