2 VACANCIES
Position One:
This is an entry level position in the Environmental Chemistry Section. The duties for this position include performing standardized quantitative chemical analysis of drinking water as assigned by the Section Supervisor using gas chromatograph/mass spectrometry, flame atomic absorption, inductively-coupled plasma emission, ion chromatography, and selective ion electrode instrumentation. This position conducts a variety of laboratory tests and analyses according to standard operating procedures, safely and effectively operates and maintains scientific instruments, performs quality control and quality assessment procedures, maintains stock chemicals and consumables, and interprets data under close supervision.
Positions Two:
Under direct supervision, performs the entry level clinical laboratory testing in the Diagnostic Immunology Section of the Office of Laboratory Services. Performs testing for detection of Hepatitis, HIV, Syphilis and various other STI and infections disease testing such as SARS-CoV2 molecular public health testing. Supports pandemic and other clinical and Epidemiological surveillance program directives. Performs clinical laboratory testing on a daily basis. Utilizes highly complex instrumentation and equipment.
One person will be hired in each section.

Training: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a biological, microbiological, chemical, or environmental science, medical technology, molecular biology, forensic science or related field.
Special Requirement: For positions which involve processing and analysis of human specimens and/or the generation or interpretation of laboratory results that may be used in the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or condition in humans, the incumbent must have or be eligible for licensure as a WV Clinical Laboratory Practitioner as required by 64 C.S.R.§57.
