Applications are invited for Fellowship posts to work across acute/general medicine and its specialties

Appointments are for 2 years in the first instance. The posts are being offered at Foundation year 2 level or higher and the appointment would be at a grade based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
Successful applicants will work in a dynamic friendly environment in general and acute medicine combined where possible with a medical specialty of their choice as expressed within the application form
Opportunities exist to work in Emergency Medicine and within the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC).

Although the posts are of non-training grade, there will be direct Consultant supervision and an educational programme including annual appraisal, 4-monthly supervisor meetings, access to an e-portfolio, study leave and a study leave budget.

The post holder will be working with a team of Consultants, Specialist Trainees, Clinical Fellows, Core Trainees and Foundation Year Trainees. Each post has a generic clinical component in Acute/General Medicine and the duties will be on the ED/MAU as described in the information pack. In addition the post holder will have an agreed experience in the specialty of their choice including outpatient clinics, ward cover, specialist in-patient reviews and procedures, audit and research. The precise role within each team and the proportion of clinical time spent between the two components would depend on previous experience and qualifications of the candidate and the specialty chosen.

➢ In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, and commensurate with your grade, to play a full part in the supervision and support of other members of your team including more junior medical staff.
➢ In conjunction with colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing
and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.
➢ In conjunction with colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance
are met and to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
➢ To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any risks, incidents and hazards
are reported and managed appropriately.
➢ In conjunction with colleagues, to play a full part in the rota for the department and to
provide cover for colleagues in respect of periods of leave and, under agreed circumstances, to be available to provide emergency cover.
➢ To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
