Your role at a glance
This role would suit someone with a background in the more technical side of the Renewables/Clean Energy industry or someone with a strong research background in the sector.
What you'll be doing
- Researching and evaluating new and innovative technologies, business models, policies and businesses in the clean energy and climate sector. Evaluating Direct Investment pipeline opportunities and present analysis to the team. Undertaking technical, commercial, market and policy research on clean energy and climate technologies and business models.
- Assisting through all stages of the origination, transacting and management of Direct Investments within the Clean Energy sector supporting L&G to meet its business objectives and increase profit for shareholders.
- Providing support and analysis to the team when setting the Direct Investment strategy for clean energy and provide input to the due diligence of investment targets.
- Managing LGC Clean Energy relationships and subscriptions with data providers and external advisors as required/appropriate.
- Providing input to the approval process for any acquisition or disposal to ensure it is in line with group governance policies and processes. Ensuring that information provided to decision making committees is accurate and risks are clearly presented.
- Identifying and developing opportunities to add value through synergies between investee businesses, L&G Group subsidiaries and partners.
- Ensuring Management Information is high quality, timely and correct to support decision making, implementation of strategy and manage the asset pipeline.
What we're looking for
- Ideally experience in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Economic Consulting related to clean energy technologies.
- Experience in energy research and analysis or a relevant role directly related to investment research in climate and environmental impact, ideally including different technologies and/or business models.
- Ideally, experience of Due Diligence processes, for example assessment of market, system, policy and technology risks or otherwise specific research or analysis of companies and sectors related to energy, climate and environmental impact.
- Ability to assess risk and to work with other parties to ensure risks of an investment are understood and accepted.
- Must be commercially astute and demonstrate strong appraisal, analysis and project management skills.
