Do you have experience in supporting pupils with special educational needs? Are you available to begin work straight away? Empowering Learning are working with a mainstream school based in the NG2 area who are looking to appoint an SEN teaching assistant to work in their SEN unit within their school.
The role will be Monday to Friday and the hours of work will be 08:30-16:00. The contract will begin in September 2023 or as soon as possible if you were available
The school are looking somebody to appoint who:
- Has previous experience of supporting SEN pupils
- Has at least one years' school based experience
- Holds a TA qualification or a relevant degree
- Can build good relationships with children who struggle to engage in class
- Has good communication skills to liaise with staff and pupils
- Can lead inspiring interventions to help engage pupils
The main duties within this role will be:
- Leading academic interventions with children working below age expected levels
- Supporting pupils in and out of class who present with special educational needs
- Liaising with the school SENCO and the class teacher around the progress of pupils
- Providing pastoral support to children with social and emotional needs
- Working across KS1 and KS2 with children struggling to manage their behaviour
