Package: £24,630 - £26,485 (plus up to 10% annual bonus)
Location: Leeds (hybrid)
Contract: 12 month fixed term
Working Pattern: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Our Claims Handling team are looking for an eagle-eyed colleague to embrace an exciting opportunity to join them as a Claims Assistant on a 12 month fixed term contract!
You'll be joining a team of other Claims Assistants within Claims Handling where you will support Claims Managers and Legal Consultants on a variety of tasks. You will also support our members through the preliminary part of a claim and pre-claim.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is currently in an admin-based role and looking to expand their skillset into a new area, or it might suit someone with a legal background looking to put their experience into practice while developing their existing knowledge.
As our new Claims Assistant, you will also:
- To triage incoming post to proactively identify cases that need immediate attention or a prioritised response (e.g. proceedings, other case types etc.) and escalate these to the appropriate team member for action; and, where applicable, to provide support on transition of a case from Claims Manager to Litigation Solicitor as required.
- Taking telephone calls from members, claimants’ solicitors and other third parties
- Work a variety of tasks on claims and pre-claims such as sufficiency checks, drafting correspondence to members and claimants’ solicitors and sending chasers.
- Review records to ensure full disclosure and prepare chronologies of records, case summaries, case reviews in accordance with applicable process/guidance/terms and conditions.
- Liaise with members, claimant’s solicitors and other third parties to obtain information at the outset of a new matter; confirming assistance to members and to comply with applicable Pre-action Protocols/statutory requirements.
- Draft court documents.
