About The Role

Due to the continued success and expansion of Avonline Networks we have an exciting opportunity for a Civils Operative to join our team, reporting to a delivery manager, performing excavations, repairs and re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers, and street cabinets within the public highway. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, organisation, and supervision skills.

Providing installation and maintenance of infrastructure to MDU's across the UK for public sector, social housing, and private landlords, which include the latest technology, FTTP and IRS.


The role & responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring performance and profitability for all network projects. Working closely with all stakeholders to deliver projects that meet their requirements.
You will:

  • Provide new installation of duct / micro duct, chambers and cabinets and associated customer connection pots and responsible for own reinstatement.
  • Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standard.
  • Be competent in the use of Stihl Saws / Wacker plates/trench compactor/mini digger/jackhammer and hold the correct certification to complete the works.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for your daily works on job sheets, risk assessments, plant sheets and or van sheets
  • To have a good understanding of plans and drawings and be able to review and understand work instructions prior to any work commencement
  • Completion of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the company assets and plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties.
  • Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures
  • Overtime + Emergency response required on rota with other team members required.

  • Full UK driving Licence to include category BE (Vehicle + Trailer up to 7.5t) (No more than 3 points – Essential)

Preferred Qualifications

  • NRSWA Street works Operative.
  • Unit 1 – Location of Underground Apparatus
  • Unit 2 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding
  • Unit 3 – Excavation in the Highways
  • Then Preferable – Units 4 to Unit 9
  • Trailer license preferable
  • All relevant CPCS cards to complete works.
  • Trained & compliant in the use of underground cable avoidance tools (Cat. & Genny)
  • H & S trained would be advantageous.
  • Experience with Telecommunications Ducting Installations Preferable
  • 360 Mini Digger / Excavator Trained Preferable
