Job description

Are you keen to join a friendly and professional team? We are looking to recruit a Civic Support Manager to manage the Civic office including the secretarial and administrative support to the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor.

Working in the wonderful City of Sheffield, you will be supported to gain extra skills and career development. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside the Lord Mayor and to experience first-hand the positive impact of their work on our communities.

Working within the Lord Mayors office, you will be experienced at managing civic engagements and events (or similar) and have excellent leadership skills. Managing and monitoring the Civic Office workload and ensuring prioritises are met will be part of your daily routine. Additionally, you will have experience of project management and leading civic functions or similar and be available to assist the Lord Mayor, Lady Mayoress, Consort and Deputy Lord Mayor at events / functions. You will be an excellent communicator both written and verbal and be self-motivated and confident in managing a complex and varied workload to a high standard with exceptional prioritisation skills. Furthermore, you will thrive in a busy environment and be able to lead and manage a team through different challenges.

The role is 37 hours per week with some out of hours and weekend working.

If you would like to know more, we would love to hear from you. If you would like to book a phone call / teams or face to face chat you can do so by contacting Kelly Harrison, who is the Strategic Business and Development Manager for Members Support Services at [email protected]

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.

It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
