We are a chocolate brand based in Sawston, near Cambridge, making healthier, high-quality chocolate under the Ombar brand. All our chocolate is made on-site in our chocolate factory and sold to health food shops, Ocado and Waitrose, as well as directly to individual customers.

As a Chocolate Production Assistant, you and your colleagues will share the tasks of refining ingredients, moulding, wrapping, packing and dispatching chocolate bars. Some aspects of this role can be quite physical, particularly ingredients handling. You will work on a section rotation, as assigned by the Team Leader, and take ownership of your tasks.

This role requires excellent attention to detail. You will visually inspect each bar, check the wrapping quality, and complete safety and date checks on multiple occasions throughout the day.

As we aim to train everyone in various activities to create a strong, competent team, you will also be given progression opportunities.

Please note you come in contact with nuts and oats while at work.

Key duties:

  • Handling ingredients (which can include lifting 25kg bags for up to two hours per day)
  • Working on the moulding line - setting up the production, running tests, tempering chocolate, extracting bars from production moulds
  • Packing chocolate bars on wrapping machines and into boxes
  • Collating orders and preparing pallets for shipments
  • Assisting in dispatch under the direction of the Operations Manager
  • Conducting quality and date checks
  • End of the day cleaning

  • Driving a forklift experience (desirable)
  • Diligence and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills (however, fluent English is not required)
  • Good organisational skills paired with an initiative-taking approach
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

In exchange for your commitment, you will receive the following:

  • 28 days of holiday pro-rata (including bank holidays)
  • Company pension arrangements
  • Access to the cycle-to-work scheme as well as on-site parking
  • Subscription to a well-being app for the duration of your employment
  • Private medical insurance for the duration of your employment
  • Option to sign up for on-site massage (about every couple of months)
  • Training and progression opportunities
  • Invitation to company events
  • Free chocolate (within reason)
