Salary: Salary: £30151 - £31099
The advertised salary includes a supplement (JWC) to the base grade of the post. JWC supplements are conditional on the physical demands and /or working conditions of the role.

From 1 April 2023 local government in Cumbria is reforming meaning the current six district councils and Cumbria County Council will be replaced by two new unitary authorities- Westmorland and Furness Council and Cumberland Council.

The Role
The role is very varied as we work with families on a short term basis whilst completing assessments and on a longer term basis working Child in Need Plans and Child Protection Plans and in some cases we complete pre proceedings work and issue care proceedings. We work with all young people from birth up to the age of 18 having strong links with other agencies externally and teams in Furness and Westmorland.
About this opportunity
We are looking for Newly Qualified Social Workers who are either about to or have recently graduated to join our social work teams. We are ideally looking for applicants who have also had some experience which can include voluntary work within a Childrens Services setting.
As part of our Social Work Academy you will:
- Receive support with an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme from within your team and from the wider Workforce and Organisational Development team.
- Attend bring back days supported by the Social Work Academy Team manager and wider team.
- Access ongoing Continual Professional Development (CPD) within the ASYE programme and within your team
- Experience rural social work in a beautiful part of the world.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children's/Adults Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with adults and Children. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with adults and Children.
