The Role

Children's Support Worker for outreach and personal care with children with complex needs.

We are excited to be growing our Award-Winning team! The service provides outreach activities, you will be part of a team who work within the child's support plan to help them to achieve their goals. This may also include attending to a child's personal & intimate care needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure that all practice is in line with relevant policies, procedures and risk assessments and standards monitored by the Care Quality Commission.
Adhere to, uphold and exemplify the Group’s core values.
Keep clear accurate and up to date records and ensure that all paperwork is filed correctly and securely and returned to the office when required.
Work in line with Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies to maintain a safe environment reporting any major concerns to a senior member of the team.
Maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times.

The Young Person and their Family

Work with each child/young person in line with care plan.
Help children / young people to access community activities.
Plan, provide and support children / young people to take part in a range of fun, safe and creative play and leisure activities.
Support children and young people using the service to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
Ensure privacy of all children / young people is respected as far as possible, particularly in reference to their personal care.
Ensure children / young people are physically comfortable; particularly those who may be dependent on others to manually handle them into position.
If necessary prepare meals and refreshments taking into account of dietary requirements and cultural needs.
Meet the health care needs of all young people, including administering medication.
Report any changes or concerns relating to the children/young people and their families to a senior member of the team.

Conditions of Post

  • The post is subject to a clear Enhanced DBS Disclosure, satisfactory references, extensive pre-employment checks and a minimum 6 month probationary period.

  • As ROC Support Network* offers a seven-day a week service, there will often be a requirement for flexible working arrangements; i.e. before and after-school hours and weekends.
  • The post holder will have a current full driving licence and access to a car with ‘business use’ insurance cover.
  • To remain polite and courteous in dealing with members of the public and colleagues, and to maintain and develop positive working relationships with colleagues in this and other agencies, and service users.
  • Staff must be prepared to undertake work across the organisation as and when required.

  • This job description is subject to periodic review and it is expected the post holder will contribute to the active development of the role as the needs of the organisation alter and to be available and willing to undertake training as appropriate
Service and Personal Development

To participate in team meetings, supervision sessions.
To contribute to the promotion of good practice across the service.
Attend training to comply with legislation and meet the individual needs of the children and young people.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Support workers are employed on a sessional basis and will be offered work as it arises in line with service requirements.
Support workers will be paid an hourly rate and car mileage for all work undertaken while the support worker is with the service user.
Any additional expenses relating to outreach activity, including travel, will be the responsibility of the family unless otherwise agreed with the child/young person’s social worker.
Job Hours

Working Pattern: mainly after 3 pm, weekends and school holidays.

Essential Requirements:
Candidates are expected to transport children so access to a car and a driving license are essential.
Experience is preferred but not a requirement as full training is provided.
You must be committed and reliable. We are focused on delivering excellent standards of care & are looking for candidates who strive to attain high quality, professional care, every day.
You will work with a consistent approach to meet the needs of each individual child you care for & supervise, under supportive management & in accordance with the Children Act 2004; Care Standards Act 2000; Children & Families Act 2014; Health & Safety at Work Act 1974; Equality Act 2010; and all other relevant pieces of legislation
Candidates must be prepared to work flexibly. The service operates 365 days per years, 7 am – 10 pm however; the main bulk of hours are worked after school, at weekends and during school holidays.
Although no formal qualifications are required on the application, candidates must be able to demonstrate effective report writing skills. Full training will be provided.
After successfully completing the probationary period, ROC Group will fund a Level 3 Apprenticeship
