We are looking for a Children’s Social Care Assistant with a talent for administration, organisation and an interest in working with children and families. We have an opportunity to join the Social Care Hub located within Disabled Children Service and Specialist Services at Knowle West Health Park.
Disabled Children Service and Specialist Services is a dynamic service that stays involved with a child through the breadth of social care intervention, holding the child’s hand through their journey from various services.
The Social Care Hub includes a range of services:
- FLORA - our early identification and support service helping parents and professionals navigate support through our Local Offer.
- Inclusion Service - supporting the inclusion of children with additional needs in community activities.
- EHCP Hub – completing advice and information for social care contributions for EHCNA’s
- Carers Wellbeing Grant
- Disabled Children Register
- Direct Payment Service - supporting parents and carers choice and control to source bespoke care support
If you are considering a career in Children’s Social Care, this is an exciting first step as it’s an opportunity to work within social care to develop a strong foundation of our systems, support and services.
You will need strong organisation and administrative skills, a capacity to work well under pressure, and a desire to be a key part of a team who deliver services to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their families.
Good communication skills and an ability to use your own initiative to support the work of the team, are essential qualities. Key skills necessary are being able to use spreadsheets, upload performance information and data onto a database, administer basic finance process, undertake financial audits and take minutes at meetings. The role can include some direct work with children and their families.
Please note: currently the role is hybrid working - working both from home and the office.
