The ASYE programme will start in September 2023 and successful candidates are required to be registered with Social Work England in order to start their learning at this time. We can offer successful candidates the opportunity to start with us in a Child Practitioner role before September, or until a Social Work England registration can be obtained, giving you the chance to settle into your team.

What will you be doing?
On a reduced and protected caseload, you will work within a diverse and supportive team that will empower you to make important decisions and find creative solutions to challenging situations.
You will be completing our structured ASYE Programme which includes 24 learning and development days over the year. This includes six structured workshops specifically aimed at NQSWs, as well as regular peer supervision using the Action Learning set model, monthly support and portfolio development hubs and study days.
We have vacancies throughout Cambridgeshire and Peterborough in our Assessment, Family Safeguarding and Corporate Parenting Teams, where you will be challenged and supported in developing your core social work skills with vulnerable children and families.
We use the Family Safeguarding Model in our practice which is a strengths-based, whole family approach to children's safeguarding, supporting parents to create sustained change for themselves and their family. You will work alongside Children’s Practitioners and Specialist Adult Practitioners in domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse as part of our multi-disciplinary approach. When you join us you will receive training on all aspects of Family Safeguarding so that you are able to practice confidently with this approach.
About you

Please note for Cambridgeshire County Council Social Workers in their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) will be appointed to a spot salary of £35,433. On successful completion of their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment they will be moved to point 1 of Grade P1 £36,333.
For Peterborough City Council Social Workers in their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) will be appointed to a salary grade starting at £31,099, moving to £34,723 on successful completion of their ASYE.
