This is a fantastic opportunity to join the University of Cambridge Security Section, as a Chief Security Patroller.
Starting salary from approx. £28,288 to £31,606 (This figure includes 25% additional salary supplement)
The role is a permanent contracted post that incorporates a regular shift pattern of 42 hours per week allowing for every second weekend off. The role holder will be required to work unsociable hours and weekends.
The Security team is essential in supporting University business, by protecting University properties and ensuring the safe guarding of both University staff and students. The section is a focal point for alarm monitoring, uniformed patrol and response for over 350 buildings throughout the University estate, as well as management of an extensive CCTV system: dealing with all aspects of the security and safety of our historic University buildings. Through liaison with University, departmental colleagues, the Colleges and external stakeholders. The post holder will act as an important member of the Security team to ensure the smooth running of our 24 hours / 365-day response in the prevention and detection of crime, and a variety of other incidents across the estate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an exceptional security service by undertaking duties within the University Security Control Centre. They will also be expected to perform vigilant foot and vehicle patrols around the University estate, respond effectively to alarms, incidents and non-emergency occurrences safely and professionally.
The post holder must have a courteous, friendly attitude and be able to demonstrate a flexible approach with excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
Previous experience in security operations is desirable but not essential, although knowledge within a customer facing role may be advantageous. All necessary relevant training will be provided in order to meet with Security industry and Security section requirements.
Possession of a full clean Driving Licence is essential for this role and is required to drive University vehicles.
