Job Title: Chief Play Officer
Hours: 3 hours - 20 hours a week
Pay: £12 an hour + annual performance based bonus
Contract: Self Employed, Freelance
Pop Up Play is a wonderful, fantastical, fun indoor playground for under 5's to experience with their grown ups.
Pop Up Play started in November 2021 and is a premium baby and toddler group that offers welcoming, engaging and fun public play sessions for under 5s and their families and party and event hire. We have been running in one location on a Sunday, with private hire, for just over a year and are now looking to expand to run multiple sessions throughout the week.
Our range of clean, carefully curated toys and activities are what set us apart from other soft play or toddler groups, alongside the welcoming and supportive atmosphere we create in a play session.
We are now looking for an exceptional individual to manage the day to day running of Pop Up Play, and the same candidate or others, to run weekly public sessions and join our pool of freelancers to run parties and events, mainly on the weekends.
Chief Play Officer Roles and Responsibilities:
- To find new venues to launch Pop Up Play in and around the Fareham area
- To reply to customer communications through email and social media
- To manage the logistics of the Pop Up Play week, to move the van between venues/team members
- To pack the van up each week with the toys and activities that week from our container near Funtley/Fareham
- To respond to and administrate party bookings
- To keep all of the toys we have in a clean and working condition
- To ensure each play session is run safely and team members are using the accident report process, broken toy log and cafe process
- To prepare and source food and drink for the Pop Up Play Cafe
- To build new toys and ensure inventory is safe and well maintained
- To market our sessions on social media - using Canva to create images and taking photos of toys and sessions for promotion
- To market our parties and event hire to increase Pop Up Play income
- To manage hall bookings and ensure correct invoices are being sent to the Director of Pop Up Play
- To put together new toys to add to our stock
- To log weekly bookings in our attendance spreadsheet
- To put new sessions on sale through Pembee our booking system
Hours
We are looking for a candidate/s to run Pop Up Play two mornings Mon-Fri and our Sunday morning session. The same candidate or ad hoc team members will also be required to run our party and event bookings at the weekend.
We will be waiting to find the right person for the job before opening our week day sessions, to ensure they are a good location for the business and the candidate. Our currently running session is as follows:
Sunday: Dave’s Scout Hut, Burridge (Near Whiteley) (8.45am-11.30am)
Administration: Between 2-4 hours a week.
Total number of hours: 11 - 13 hours a week, with option for extra hours through parties, events and opening other weekday sessions if desired. Our aim is to run 7 days a week and to build this up, with the role of Chief Play Officer coordinating it.
Essential Skills
- Excellent communication skills with both adults and young children
- Can drive - and able to drive a medium sized van (provided)
- Excellent written English, to communicate professionally with customers
- A creative flair and excellent attention to detail in setting out our toys to look inviting and exciting
- Able to lift and move toys from the van into the halls and back again ( we have trolleys to assist but lifting and carrying toys will be a requirement of the role)
- A warm, friendly and positive person who loves and values play for under 5s
- Proficient in Facebook and Instagram
- Have or be prepared to acquire an Enhanced DBS check
Desirable Skills
- Experience in working with under 5s
- Design and marketing experience
- Experience in running children's activities
- Experience in editing Wix websites
- Paediatric First Aid Qualification
