Estimator
Location: Leatherhead
Rock & Alluvium, a Galliford Try company have provided piling solutions across the country since 1963 and offer a wide range of services including secant and contiguous piled retaining walls. We always work closely with our clients from an early stage to enable us to deliver the most economic, efficient and quality assured piling works.
An opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to support business growth.
What you will be doing:
Taking ownership for the work assigned to you. The successful individual will be able to work on multiple enquiries concurrently using excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, supply chain partners and our in-house teams.
Responsibilities include
- Estimating and costing of enquiries for projects
- Identification of resources required to successfully deliver projects
- Contribution to the commercial aspects of tender submissions
- Liaison with project teams to identify value-engineering / alternative approaches
- Management of sub-contractors and supply chain partners
- Co-ordinate with pre-construction team.
- Give direction to other departments (design operations).
- Liaise with clients, consultants, PQS, supply chain, stakeholders and other third parties.
- Organise and prepare supply chain enquiries.
- Prepare financial submission.
- Prepare and present estimate in conjunction with bid manager to senior managers and directors at cost estimate review and settlement meetings.
- Coordinate with Estimating Manager on all aspects relating to estimate
- Contribute to collecting and distributing of feedback.
- Prepare and hand over of tender estimating information to project team.
- Prepare tender summaries
- Comply with Company and Group bid governance procedures.
- Coach, mentor and develop junior staff.
- Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques.
- Use appropriate BIM / digital tools and promote the use of 3D, 4D and 5D techniques
- Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
About you:
- The following are desirable requirements:
- Degree, HND in Civil Engineering or NVQ equivalent level
- Suitable civil engineering site experience.
- Proven estimating experience in civil engineering bids as an Estimator (ideally in a piling environment)
- Understanding of methods and typical production rates / outputs
- Demonstrable understanding of common forms of contract
- Proficient in the use of company estimating software
- Good knowledge of UK civil construction market
