Job description
Hampton School requires an Chemistry Technician to join our Chemistry department from September 2023. This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant and highly successful department in an outstanding School.
WE ARE UNABLE TO CONSIDER CVs ALONE. APPLICANTS MUST COMPLETE ONE OF OUR APPLICATION FORMS which can be found by visiting https://hamptonschool.org.uk/contact/jobsvacancies/
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting chemistry lessons by setting up and clearing away all the chemicals, apparatus and equipment necessary for the practical work undertaken by the pupils.
Chemistry is a core subject up to GCSE and around 140 students take the subject in the Sixth Form each year. The successful applicant will be committed to delivering genuinely imaginative, varied and challenging courses at all levels in the school. Our young chemists excel in many areas and regularly receive Gold and Silver awards in national competitions such as the Chemistry Olympiad and the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge.
Hampton is one of the country’s foremost independent schools and was judged to 'excellent' (the highest possible recognition) across all categories by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in May 2023. Pupils achievements were found to be exceptional across the broad academic curriculum, co-curricular activity and the extensive enrichment programmes. The ISI team also highlighted Hamptonians’ excellent personal development and concluded that ‘pupils are open-minded and tolerant and have a clear sense of justice, successfully fulfilling the school’s aims for them to make sense of the world, to want to make a difference for good, and to aspire to personal best while supporting those around them with kindness and respect’. Equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our ethos and the School has a thriving partnerships programme.
The working hours are from 8.30am – 4.30pm during Hampton School term time. Previous experience of working in a laboratory and a Chemistry qualification would both be desirable. Being able to work in a team and enthusiasm are essential and ICT skills would be an asset.
The salary will be up to circa £26,000 per annum (full-time equivalent being £33,237 per annum) commensurate with skills and experience, plus other benefits. We encourage applications as soon as possible and the School reserves the right to commence or complete the interview process at any time prior to the closing date. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting chemistry lessons by setting up and clearing away all the chemicals, apparatus and equipment necessary for the practical work undertaken by the pupils.
