A Head Chef position is available at One Up Café/Bistro, prime location on Redcar Seafront. We are seeking a highly motivated, and experience Chef that will bring culinary creations to life. In this hands-on role, you will use your innovation, creativity, and skill to develop menus for all dining experiences. As Head Chef you will handle all phases of the culinary execution of and intimate upscale café/bistro.
The bistro is a relatively new, popular establishment and is open throughout the day offering a variety of breakfast and lunch items as well as evenings on a Friday and Saturday. Currently open Thursday 9am-2pm, Friday and Saturday 9am-9pm, Sunday 9:30am -2:00pm and Monday 9am-2pm. Some flexibility with opening hours (to be discussed).
The Chef must have pervious experience working in a busy environment. The ideal candidate must be able to work well under high pressure whilst maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation, and preparation. Your role is to provide a friendly service which drives the energy of the bistro. Your duties are focused on preparing food of the highest quality and presentation.
It is important that you have a good command of the English language and a flexible attitude to working hours.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Work to develop and grow the menu while managing and controlling food costs and offering high quality service to customers
- Placing stock orders
- Prioritising orders as they are taken and sent through from the servery
- Working on your own and as part of a team, supporting your colleagues to ensure food is prepared for customers.
- Work in a safe way demonstrating good practice of food hygiene, and health & safety.
- Ensure full area of responsibility is clean, appropriately presented and always stocked.
- Ensure that Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to, and any incidents are reported in line with procedures
The ideal person will:
- A confident chef who enjoys working in intimate fresh food kitchens with the ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
- Have good skills in managing time and prioritising tasks
- Experience of working within a Café/Bistro kitchen is essential
- Demonstrate good team working, this is essential to providing the service required
- Be able to communicate well with colleagues and FOH staff to ensure that service and customer needs are met
- Hold a current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £12.00-£14.00 per hour
