A unique facility, IDEALondon is a start-up space between Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations. It is currently home to 11 start-ups, providing its members with support, space and advice to grow and develop. Since its founding in 2012, IDEALondon has been home to more than 70 start-ups, who have gone on to raise more than £340m in funding.

About the role
Main purpose of the job
To be responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of IDEALondon in collaboration with staff employed by our partners, Capital Enterprise.
The post-holder will provide a first point of contact for IDEALondon and play a key role in the co-ordination of IDEALondon. They will work in collaboration with their line manager and others to support and expand on the work of IDEALondon.
The post-holder will also:
- Chair the Operations Committee ensuring actions are followed through, and give verbal/written reports on activity to the Governance Board.
- Take responsibility for the compliance with UCL policy and procedure of operations at IDEALondon. This will require close working and liaison with Capital Enterprise staff. Set up and implement procedures in order to ensure the successful operation of IDEALondon.
- Monitor and manage budgets; prepare and comment on financial statements/reports; provide in-year and multi-year forecasts of IDEALondon income and expenditure; manage financial processes associated with the annual budget cycle, month-end and year-end.
- Ensure compliance with UCL financial policies and procedures, including the application of VAT. Maintain records of information for submission to UCL Finance and other bodies as appropriate.
- Assist with management and organisation of events relating to IDEALondon, including open days, conferences, and seminars as applicable, ensuring appropriate Risk Assessments are undertaken and compliance with the UCL Prevent policy.

- This is an internal secondment role, available to current UCL staff only, which will run until 31/12/23.

About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Educated to A level or equivalent, or have equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in general administration within the Higher Education sector or a similar busy office environment.
- Experience of preparing financial budgets and forecasts, and providing financial reports.
- Excellent computer literacy and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate to advanced level in Word and Excel.
- A commitment to customer focus and the need to provide an efficient, professional and effective service to the multiple users both internally at all levels of the organisation and externally.
- High level of numeracy, with the ability to understand and interpret a variety of figures and statistics, and deliver accurately against operational deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to liaise and interact with a variety of people at all levels both within UCL and externally.
